Maggie Grace is an American actress who was born Margaret Grace Denig in 1983. Her best-known roles include Shannon Rutherford, a character from ABC's Lost series and Kim Mills from the Taken trilogy. Originating from Worthington Ohio she dropped out of high school to move to Los Angeles with her mother following her divorce from her parents. It was a struggle to get by at the time she landed her first acting role in the film Rachel's Room's lead character. In 2002 she was nominated for a Young Artist Award with her role as 15-year old murder victim Martha Moxley. Grace Rutherford was the character Shannon Rutherford for Lost's first two seasons of 2004 and she shared the Screen Actors Guild Award (with all the other actors) along with her. Grace was dropped from the series in the year 2005, to take on a more significant role in movies, and had a role opposite Tom Welling as Kim Mills in the film Taken. She also starred as a character in Suburban Girl The Jane Austen Book Club as well as, alongside Liam Neeson's Kim Mills as Kim Mills for Taken. Taken 2 (2012), Taken 3 2014 and Taken 4 (2014) were her reprises of these roles. Grace returned to the Lost series in the final two episodes playing Shannon. The actress was featured in 2013's six-season of Californication. She plays Faith as a girl who is a muse for the stars, and draws the attention to Hank Moody (David Duchovny). She's a Gyllenhaal. child of Stephen Gyllenhaal (director) and Naomi Achs (producer), she is a bit more senior in age than Jake Gyllenhaal. In her early teens She appeared in small roles in films made by her father. She also she co-starred alongside her twin brother on Donnie Darko, a popular cult movie. Later, she was in Adaptation Confessions of a Dangerous Mind as well as Mona Lisa Smile (both 2002). Gyllenhaal won critical praise for her performance as a lead character in Secretary (2002), the erotic drama about romance and Sherrybaby (2006). In 2006, she was also nominated by the Golden Globe Award. She starred in several commercially successful films, such as World Trade Center. However the role she played in the role of Rachel Dawes that brought her more attention with The Dark Knight (2008). In recognition of her role as the single mom in Crazy Heart (2009) she received a nomination for Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. In the following years, she appeared in comedy and dramas Nanny McPhee and the Big Bang (2010) Hysteria (2011) and Will Not Back Down (2012). Alongside her work as a Secret Service agent, she was also seen in White House Down (2013) as well as Frank (2014). The latest roles included as the main character The Kindergarten Teacher The Kindergarten Teacher (2018). In 2021, Gyllenhaal has made her scriptwriting and directing debut with the psychological thriller The Lost Daughter for which she won an award at the Venice International Film Festival's Best Screenplay Award and was nominated to win the Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay.
